Shannan Johnson began working for EAS in 2008 and has been a key field and lab team member collecting, processing, and shipping thousands of environmental samples. This work requires the highest quality assurance and quality control guidelines be followed. Shannan is skilled in sample tracking, field logbook record keeping, quality assurance data reviews, hazardous chemical management, performing radiological surveys, and storing and shipping of samples for chemical analysis. She has excellent computer and interpersonal skills and communicates regularly with EAS clients. Shannan is highly regarded for her ability to follow work instructions and perform the work safely for extended hours and for being flexible with the work schedule.

Shannan is the sample scheduling coordinator for the Public Safety and Resource Protection Program (PSRP) at the Hanford Site. The PSRP program at Hanford is being directed for the U.S. Department of Energy by the Mission Support Alliance. Shannan coordinates daily sampling events, performs QA reviews of the chains of custodies, maintains controlled temperature storage records, waste disposal processes/records, chemical inventories, order supplies as necessary, and prepares the annual Master Sampling Schedule.

Shannan is a key field member for the Umatilla Comprehensive Monitoring Program that involves collecting samples soil, vegetation, and small mammals on a quarterly basis. Shannan oversees all the field preparation efforts that include handling hazardous chemicals, decontaminating the sampling equipment, safety equipment, etc. In the field Shannan routinely performs sample collections, including handling small mammals, field logbook record keeping, copy and scanning records, performing data QA checks, and summary report preparations.

Relevant Work Experience

Shannan was a member of the EAS team supporting sample collection and sample accessioning activities for the MC252 Deepwater Horizon Gulf oil spill Natural Resource Damage Assessment. She led the development of the project's sample accessioning protocols, training staff, and performing QA assessments throughout the Gulf of Mexico. She also assisted with preparation of training protocols and data management.
